Cleveland, OH. (PFCritics) -- The Minnesota Vikings have signed their quarterback of the future. The Vikings signed rookie quarterback Tarvaris Jackson to a four-year deal on Wednesday. Jackson, a second-round pick, will be the backup to Brad Johnson to begin the season.
"Tarvaris understands that every rep is important at training camp, and we're glad he's on board as camp starts," said Vikings head coach Brad Childress.
Jackson, the 64th overall pick in the draft, threw for 67 touchdown passes during his career at Alabama State.
"It feels good to sign a contract and get everything done," Jackson said. "I'm very excited about going there with my teammates tomorrow, having fun and being a good teammate. I always dreamed about this, but you never know it's going to actually happen. This has really just been icing on the cake. I'm officially a Minnesota Viking now and I can't wait to get to work."
At the moment, the only Vikings player that has not signed is first-round linebacker Chad Greenway.
