The controversy regarding Terrell Owens continues to build: this time, it involves an injury. Owens broke his hand against the Washington Redskins this past week, and had a plate screwed into his bone on Monday evening. He is expected to return in two to four weeks. If he returns by October 8th, he'll be back in time for the highly-hyped matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"Most of those injuries, when they put a plate in there, which I think they might do, that pretty much fixes it," said Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells, before the surgery. "Once they put that in there, it's not going anywhere, you're not going to displace it again. It's a matter of if you can get it functional."
The Cowboys have a bye week this Sunday, and face the Tennessee Titans before the game against the Eagles. That means that Owens may only miss one game against a team the Cowboys could very well win without Owens. However, with the timetable set, there is even a chance he could play against the Titans too.
"I feel like I'm a quick healer," Owens said Sunday night. "I'm going to try to get back as fast as I can. I'll bounce back. I'll pretty much be in there [training] throughout the clock."
Owens suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason, which prevented him from having repetition with quarterback Drew Bledsoe. According to Owens, the injury occurred while he was blocking during the first quarter against the Washington Redskins. He played for most of the game, but had several drops that he usually wouldn't make.
