The Tennessee Titans have agreed on a multiyear deal with defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. The move will prevent Vanden Bosch from becoming a free agent after having an outstanding season.
Vanden Bosch had a career-high 12.5 sacks this season. He earned $540,000 this past season after being injury-plagued with the Arizona Cardinals in four previous seasons. His 12.5 sacks ranked him fourth in the NFL and was the most sacks the Titans have had since Javon Kearse's 14.5 sacks in 1999,
"We're very pleased to have Kyle here for the next several years," said general manager Floyd Reese in a statement. "Last season he exemplified himself as an important part of our defense through his work ethic and intensity on and off the field. It helps us to get something worked out with him before free agency, and I think both parties in this case were able to accomplish what they wanted with the deal."
On top of the sacks, Vanden Bosch forced four fumbles and recovered one fumble. He made the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for the Dolphins' Jason Taylor. Vanden Bosch had two sacks in the Pro Bowl. Vanden Bosch was a second round pick for the Cardinals in 2001.
