Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez will miss at least one week with a left shoulder sprain, coming at a bad time. With the Chiefs coming off of a tough loss to the Miami Dolphins, the team was looking forward to the possible return of starting quarterback Trent Green this week. Green has been out since suffering a severe concussion in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. If Green is cleared to practice 100%, it is believed that he will play. If he's not cleared, Damon Huard would get the start again.

"They're going to get the tests tomorrow. They'll read his evaluation tomorrow and they'll let him know if they'll let him start participating in team stuff," Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards said.

It's not known whether or not Gonzalez, the team's leading receiver, will miss any time beyond this week's game against the Oakland Raiders. Gonzalez has had huge games in wins over San Diego, Seattle and St. Louis, and has remained as the Chiefs only offensive weapon in the passing game besides running back Larry Johnson. Gonzalez had caught six passes for 84 yards against the Dolphins before getting injured on a play in which he was trying to make sure Huard's pass was not intercepted.

"He's getting more tests today and we'll find out tomorrow or the next day the extent of how long he'll be out. This weekend, he's definitely out," Edwards said. "It is a shame, a guy like that, he's having a terrific year for you and has been a staple in the last month and really getting involved in the offense. We're going to have to find another way now. He's going to be missed this week, obviously. But we've just got to find a way to get the ball, when we decide to pass, to other players."

PFC Analysis: Bench Gonzalez this week and put your backup in, or find a free agent tight end playing a weak defense this week. Expect Larry Johnson to get plenty of touches against the Raiders this week, since Oakland's pass defense actually isn't too bad.
