Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Trent Dilfer had surgery on right right knee Tuesday to repair a torn tendon. Dilfer, 33, should be ready to go next season.
"This past season I had some problems with my knee throughout the year, so we felt it was best to have the procedure and clean up the knee during the offseason," Dilfer said.
Dilfer signed a four-year deal with the Browns last year. There was some speculation that the Browns should shop Dilfer, since Charlie Frye will almost certainly be the starter next year.
