After months of trying to find a team, free agent cornerback Ty Law has finally found one. At the moment, the deal could be worth about $28.5 million for the first three years of his contract, or as much as $50 million for seven years.
Law will be the Jets starting left cornerback. He will replace CB Donnie Abraham, who retired before training camp.
"He's a very gifted player," said head coach Herman Edwards. "You could do some things when you have a corner of his ability where you can put a lot on his plate."
Law was a major part for two of the three Super Bowls that the New England Patriots won. Last year, Law missed most of the season to injury, but still gained his third ring.
Many teams passed up on Law in concern that he would not be 100 percent health-wise. Law was one of the few major free agents still left on the market.
