With the second pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected wide receiver Calvin Johnson. There is still a great chance that the Lions will simply turn around and trade Johnson.

No one was more impressive at showcasing himself to scouts than Calvin Johnson was. The talented receiver out of Georgia Tech has unbelievable speed for a man his size: he ran a 4.35 while weighing in at just under 240 pounds. Included in his massive frame are long arms and big hands to make the difficult catches, no matter where the ball is thrown. Johnson has shown time after time that he can leap into the air with ease and make those types of catches as well. He can provide the type of blocking that you'd expect from a veteran like Muhsin Muhammad as well. Best of all, he doesn't appear to have any ego whatsoever, a far cry from someone like Terrell Owens.

As college receivers often have trouble with, Johnson still has the tendency to drop some balls that are deemed catchable. He can grab a ball if it's thrown in his area, but he needs some work on his actual route running, which would perfect his game to an even greater extent. Despite not having a premiere quarterback during his stay at Georgia Tech, he was able to handle the focal point of the offense well.

Like Reggie Bush was considered a dream-like running back last year, Calvin Johnson could be close to being a dream-like wide receiver this year. With a sparse group in last year's class, Johnson has leaps and bounds of more potential than Chad Jackson and Santonio Holmes did. During his final season at Georgia Tech, he caught 76 passes for 1,202 yards and 15 touchdowns.
